It's Thursday, March 23rd. Yesterday, we talked about the four-day workweek. If you work one day less a week, maybe you can work more years, meaning your body might not get worn out so quickly. And if working fewer days a week lets you stay in the workforce longer, that might be really good for your long-term health. A new study says that if you retire early, you could indeed damage your health.

It's Wednesday, March 22nd. 100 years ago, odds were high that you lived and worked on a farm. That was a 24/7/365 job because, you know, cows and pigs and chickens, they never take the day off. They got to be fed or milked or always cared for and crops always needed tending to every day. The Industrial Revolution gave us the six-day workweek. Sunday was off for religious reasons. Eventually, that led to the five-day workweek. In 1938, Congress created the 40-hour workweek and set overtime pay for anything more than that. That was then. Now there's a movement to a four-day workweek.

It's Tuesday, March 21st. I often talk about tech on this show because our technological innovations are changing the planet. We're growing so accustomed to them that tech innovations are just not getting anybody terribly excited about them anymore. I've deliberately waited a few weeks to bring you today's story because I wanted to make this point.

It's Monday, March 20th. It's the first day of spring. Awesome. Hey, you know, everybody, of course, wants to have a secure financial future, but millions of Americans are setting themselves up for financial failure instead. That's because of their poor judgment, their immature behavior and their bad decisions. And I might well be talking about your adult children.

It's Friday, March 17th. Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Aren't you glad I reminded you so you can be sure to wear green? All this week, we've been focusing on how the future is changing, particularly the future of society. If you missed any of these shows, go listen to them. The links are all in the show notes. Today, this is our last segment of this series. I want to again focus on the topic of death. But this one, frankly, more seriously. It's more a current topic than what we've covered so far this week. Today, I want to talk about the survivor, particularly widows and widowers.

It's Monday, March 13th. Thanks for joining me. This podcast, as you know, is devoted to telling you about the future. And normally that means I'm talking about technological innovation, exponential technology in particular. But these aren't the only reasons that our future is changing. It's not just because of technological innovation. Society itself is changing as well.
