A single-engine Cessna crashed at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip during the NHRA Drag Racing finals on Sunday (November 17), injuring three people. The incident occurred just after 11 a.m. local time, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The injured individuals, who were passengers on the plane, were transported to a local hospital. Two of them suffered moderate injuries, while the third sustained minor injuries. The identities of the injured have not been released, and their current conditions are unknown.
The crash caused a delay in the NHRA finals, with all cars being towed back to the pits as the crash site was investigated and cleaned up. The NHRA released a statement expressing their thoughts for everyone involved in the incident. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The plane was reportedly attempting to land at the nearby Brackett Field Airport, a small local airport that is located just west of the track and facilitates more than 114,000 flights annually.
The event was temporarily halted but resumed at 1 p.m. local time.
