(Louisville, KY) - A proposal that could bring the first overhaul of Jefferson County Public Schools' student assignment plan in 40 years has been unveiled.
During a forum Tuesday night at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in the Russell neighborhood, Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio said students who live in west Louisville are the ones paying the price for diversity.
Pollio said the new plan would give every student a choice about where to go to school, bringing better schools closer to home.
A "Choice Zone" would allow students to decide whether to attend a school close to home or a school that's further away.
