Branches covered with ice after freezing rain. Sparkling ice covered everything after ice storm cyclone. Terrible beauty of nature concept. Winter landscape, scene, postcard. Selective focus.

(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky is under a state of emergency as a major storm blows across much of the U.S. Ice accumulations of up to a half-inch are likely.

Governor Andy Beshear is urging people to stay off the roads and utility crews are preparing for the likelihood of power outages.

All state office buildings are closed and the National Guard and Kentucky State Police are pre-positioned along or near major interstates to respond to emergencies.
