State of Emergency Declared in Kentucky Following Winter Storm

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Beshear has declared a state of emergency in the wake of the ice storm that hit Kentucky.

Emergency Management Director Michael Dossett says 70,000 utility customers lost power in the storm. Most are in the eastern and central part of the state.

Transportation Secretary Jim Gray warns it will be a "prolonged event," with cold temperatures staying around for several more days.
