Jefferson County Public Schools Teachers Receive COVID-19 Vaccines

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- Governor Beshear says "This is what the path to victory over this virus looks like."

He spoke at Broadbent Arena in Louisville as the first Jefferson County Public School teachers and staff began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Over 1,200 JCPS educators are getting their first shot Friday.

Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio expects all 13,000 employees who have requested the vaccine will receive their first dose by the first week of February.  It will take another month to administer the booster vaccine, and Pollio says "that means the time for coming back to school is approaching."

Governor Beshear says more than 82,000 public and private educators in Kentucky have signed up to be vaccinated.
