Officer Involved In Breonna Taylor Case Sends Strongly Worded Email To LMPD

(Louisville, KY) - An officer involved in the Breonna Taylor case has sent a strongly-worded email to the department.

Louisville Metro Police Department Sgt. Jon Mattingly allegedly referred to protesters as "thugs" in the email, claiming they'll "throw bricks, bottles and urine" on officers and degrade them.

Interim Police Chief Robert Schroeder says it's premature to talk about the email, but the department will have more information later on.

Mattingly was one of three officers who fired their weapon on the night of the raid of Taylor's apartment. Taylor died after being shot during the incident.

Detectives Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankinson, along with Mattingly, were involved in the shooting. Hankinson has since been fired.
