(Louisville, KY) - Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad is retiring.
Chief Conrad told Mayor Greg Fischer of his decision Thursday. Colonel Robert Schroeder will serve as interim chief when Conrad retires on June 30th.
The announcement was made a day after Chief Conrad was grilled by the Louisville Metro Council's Public Safety Committee over the police-shooting death of Breonna Taylor.
Chief Conrad sent a message to his staff saying the hardest moments during his eight years leading them have been the loss of officers Peter Grignon, Nick Rodman, and Deirdre Mengedoht.
