(Louisville, KY) - LMPD's new traffic stop policies are going into effect Thursday.
The department announced in May that changes would be made following the stop of an African-American teen who was driving his mother's car.
The policies say officers will conduct each stop without bias, and being in a high-crime area or nervousness are not indicators to justify some police actions.
They also include guidelines for handcuffing people who are not under arrest, removing drivers from their vehicles and how to document some actions.
