Maximum Security Jockey Suspended After Kentucky Derby DQ

145th Kentucky Derby

(Louisville, KY) - The jockey aboard Maximum Security during the Kentucky Derby has been suspended.

A three steward panel at Churchill Downs suspended Luis Saez for 15 racing days due to his actions during the Derby.

In their ruling, the panel say Saez showed a "failure to control his mount and maintain a straight course" that caused him to interfere with other horses and ultimately resulted in his disqualification.

The disqualification meant second place finisher Country House was named the winner.

Saez begins his suspension on May 23 and it runs through June 14th.
