Serengeti Empress Goes Wire-to-Wire for Kentucky Oaks Win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Serengeti Empress has won the 145th Kentucky Oaks.

Trained by Tom Amoss and ridden by Jose Ortiz, Serengeti Empress covered the mile and one-eighth on a fast track in 1:50.17. It is the first victory in the race for Amoss and Ortiz.

Longshot Liora (38-1) placed while Lady Apple (10-1) showed.

The favorite in the race, Bellafina, got caught in traffic and ended up fifth in the race.
