JCPS Board Asks Commissioner To Withdraw Request For Teacher Names

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Jefferson County Board of Education isn't ready to hand over teacher sickout information just yet.

The board voted unanimously to pass a resolution asking Education Commissioner Dr. Wayne Lewis to withdraw his request for the names of teachers taking part in sickouts.

The resolution says the request "raised significant concerns among teachers regarding retribution for exercising their First Amendment rights."

JCPS Superintendent Marty Polio says he plans on submitting the names if Lewis does not withdraw his request.
