JCPS, Other Districts Closed Due To Teacher Absences

(Louisville, KY) - Jefferson County Public Schools are closed Thursday due to too many teachers absences.

It's the second straight day the state's largest district has canceled classes due to teachers calling out.

The absences by teachers are part of an ongoing protest over bills making their way through the state legislature.

Oldham and Bullitt County schools are also closed Thursday due to teacher absences.

Gov. Bevin Calls Teacher Absences Irresponsible

(Frankfort, KY) - Governor Matt Bevin is responding to school closings due to a significant number of teacher absences.

He called Wednesday's sick-out by Jefferson County Public Schools teachers irresponsible.

While appearing on the Leland Conway radio show Wednesday, Bevin said parents are sick of it and it's obvious it's not about the students.

JCPS teachers have called out multiple times as part of an ongoing protest over bills making their way through the state legislature.
