Ex-LMPD Officer Facing Federal Charges in Explorer Sex Scandal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A former Louisville police officer is facing federal charges involving the Explorer Program sex scandal.

A grand jury indicted 34-year-old Kenneth Betts on charges of enticement and possession & distribution of child pornography.   

Betts is one of two former LMPD officers who were already facing state charges of sexually abusing teens in the Explorer program.    The other is Brandon Wood.

An independent investigation concluded Louisville police mishandled the abuse allegations, but there was no coverup at headquarters or at city hall.Several lawsuits have been filed by alleged victims.
