Candidates For Louisville Mayor Debate Monday Night

(Louisville, KY) - Candidates for Louisville mayor debate for the first time Monday night.

Incumbent Greg Fischer (D) faces a challenge from Metro Councilwoman Angela Leet (R) in this year's election.

The debate can be seen on WLKY and will be heard on NewsRadio 840 WHAS at 7 p.m.

Here is more information on the debate:

As in past Congressional and Lieutenant Governor’s debates, a coalition of 20 women’s and civic groups is partnering again on a Mayoral Debate, Monday, September 24, 2018, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the University Club in Louisville Kentucky.

This is the only debate that will have team up such a diverse group and will be televised live and live-streamed on WLKY-TV. The debate will also be heard on NewsRadio 840 WHAS.

Moderated by Vicki Dortch of WLKY-TV, the panel members are Paul Miles (WHAS AM), Lisa Benson (Business First), Mark Vanderhoff (WLKY-TV) and Betty Bayé, (former Courier Journal editorial writer). The panel members will make up their questions, and their questions will not be revealed ahead of time.

The 200 members in the audience will come from the coalition partners. Because of security, this event is not opened to the public.

The basic debate format has each panel member alternating questions to each candidate. Two to four questions will be taken from specific audience members of the 501c3 organizations; again, their questions will not be known.

Eligible to be in this debate are the candidates that have met the nationally recognized polling thresholds of at least 12.5% support, including the full benefit of a 3.5% +/- margin of error.
