LMPD Asking Public To "Shield A Badge"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- LMPD is asking for some divine protection for its officers.

The department is taking part in the Shield A Badge program with the hope of building bonds with Louisville's faith communities.

The program, which originated in Arlington, Texas in the late 80's, distributes prayer cards with officer’s names and badge numbers on them to community members who are asked to say a prayer a day for the officer.

Officer participation is optional and is non-denominational.

LMPD is the first department in Kentucky to join the program.
