Louisville Metro Police and Metro Public are taking action on the Occupy ICE camp in downtown Louisville
The process of clearing the camp located at 7th and Magazine began early Thursday morning. Kentucky law requires a four foot path on the sidewalk and to keep the parking spaces along 7th Street clear. LMPD says the camp is being cleared to bring the space back into compliance.
Crews are installing physical barriers to keep that path open, replacing the painted lines that LMPD says have been largely ignored.
The city is also concerned about the health of the camp, especially when it comes to the handling of human waste.
The protesters have been in place since July 2.
