LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bourbon returns to its pre-Prohibition home. The Old Forester Distillery has opened on Whiskey Row -- in the same Main Street building it once called home.
The $45 million distillery will guide visitors through the brand's history and bourbon making process, from fermentation to barrel-making. It will distill 100,000 proof gallons of whiskey per year.
Old Forester traces its roots to 1870, when George Garvin Brown sealed the first bottle.
