Kentucky’s interim commissioner of education is calling for state management of Jefferson County Public Schools.
In a letter today, Wayne Lewis said he determined that evidence “overwhelming supports the conclusion that there is a pattern of a significant lack of efficiency and effectiveness in the governance and administration of the JCPS.”
The audit of the district was called for by state leaders after a review showed concerns with the district's leadership and management.
JCTA President Brent McKim says "We are extremely disappointed,", adding "This is a terrible recommendation for both students and families. Our schools need support from the state, not a hostile takeover."
