FRANKFORT, Ky. -- LG&E and KU customers will pay less for gas and electric service thanks to tax changes.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission has reduced the total annual revenue of LG&E and KU by more than $200 million to reflect the reduction in federal corporate income taxes that took effect in January.
As a result of the revenue reduction, residential electric customers will see their average monthly bills decrease by about six percent, while natural gas customers will see about a 4.5 percent reduction in the base rate portion of their bills.
The federal tax law enacted in December reduce the corporate income tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.
