LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The recent cold snap hasn't affected the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium expansion.
Messer Construction Co. crews say the project is still on schedule and will be done with time to spare before the Cards home opener against Indiana State September 8.
The project is at a point where the 410 precast concrete sections for the seating areas are going in along with other concrete work.
Project manager Jason Larkin says they beat the cold by adding some chemicals and warm water to the concrete so they didn't have to skip a pour due to the weather.
The work has also moved inside the Schnellenberger Football Complex where most of the building has been gutted, forcing the coaching staff into temporary offices inside the stadium.
Larkin says the team will move into their renovated offices ahead of the start of fall camp.
