Before Every U of L Game, Crews Install A 48,000 Pound Puzzle

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- There's more to U of L home basketball games than meets the eye.

Before every Louisville basketball game, a team of 15 to 20 pieces together the court at the KFC Yum! Center, all 240 pieces of it.

The three hour floor instillation process is the main part of the conversion back to basketball from a concert that takes 7 hours to get done.

The 48,000 pound floor carries a price tag of about $200,000.

Senior Event Manager Kevin Washam says the floor isn't much different than a hardwood floor in your house and is cared for in much the same way.

The floor is owned by the arena and carries a life expectancy of 20 years.
