LOUISVILLE, Ky -- A Republican Metro Council member enters the race for mayor. Metro Councilwoman Angela Leet (District 7 in northeast Louisville) releases a two-minute video announcing her candidacy for mayor.
In the video Leet says "the story you have heard the last several years has been one of fiction, telling us that bike lanes will lead us to prosperity and growth, when instead we've been lead down a dead end road to another homicide."
As Councilwoman she says she pushed to improve city services, supported police officers and emergency responders, and made government more transparent.
Leet is the first person to enter the 2018 race as a challenger to Mayor Greg Fischer. The mayor's campaign released a statement on the announcement, "the mayor remains focused on his duties to maintain the momentum in our city, grow good jobs, and continue making Louisville a community where every family has the opportunity to succeed."
