City Files Lawsuit Against Opioid Sellers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The city of Louisville files a federal lawsuit against the nation's three largest opioid distributors.

The suit accuses Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen and McKesson of dumping million of pills into Louisville neighborhoods while refusing to monitor, report and halt suspicious shipments of opioids.

The city is seeking damages to help combat the opioid crisis that Mayor Greg Fischer says has led to everything from overdose deaths to increased crime.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell, who lost a son to a heroin overdose, says the lawsuit is a chance at "some small piece of justice" for his son.
