LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Foul play is suspected in the case of a dog with a terrible injury.
The 10-month-old chihuahua mix, nicknamed Banjo, has a dislocated jaw and a nearly severed tongue.
The injury was allegedly caused by someone who violently kicked the dog in the face.
He faces surgery at Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists in Louisville.
Banjo is under the care of The Arrow Fund, a nonprofit which cares for injured and neglected animals.
Arrow Fund Director Rebecca Eaves says Banjo has a sweet nature, despite his injury.
