LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Churchill Downs pulls its mobile betting operation out of Silicon Valley.
The company has moved their TwinSpires mobile betting operation from California to the Hurstbourne Parkway headquarters of Churchill Downs Incorporated, bringing 70 high-tech jobs to town.
Churchill Downs Incorporated CEO Bill Carstanjen says ten years ago having TwinSpires based in Louisville wasn't an option but says the city now has people with the right experience to support the company.
On top of the 70 jobs moved in from California, Carstanjen says 25 new TwinSpires employees will be hired by the end of the year with salaries of $75,000 to $110,000.
TwinSpires started in 2007 with five employees and a total betting handle of just over $94 million, growing to over 200 employees today and a betting handle of $1.1 billion.
