Classic Empire Morning Line Favorite For Kentucky Derby

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Classic Empire is the morning line favorite to win Kentucky Derby 143.

The field of 20 is highlighted by the Arkansas Derby winner that is trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Julien Leparoux and will start in the 14th gate.

Todd Pletcher's Always Dreaming and Ian Wilkes' McCracken are the co-second choices at 5-1 odds. Always Dreaming will start in the fifth gate with McCracken coming out of the 15th starting position.\

Steve Asmussen's Lookin at Lee drew the first starting gate on the far inside, a position his sire Lookin at Lucky had in the 2010 Kentucky Derby.

Wood Memorial winner Irish War Cry will start in the 17th position, the only position in Derby history not to produce a winner.

Drawing the 20 position on the far outside is Patch, a one eyed horse trained by Todd Pletcher.
