Shuttered Mine Sold and Set to Reopen

HINDMAN, Ky  --  A Texas-based mining company is set to reopen a shuttered mine in Knott County, bringing hope to a community in southeast Kentucky.  Kingdom Resources has purchased one of the old Enterprise Mines in Knott County and expects to hire workers within the next two weeks, and possibly double that number in the near future.

Knott  County officials say its good news because it restores jobs and hope in the county.  Judge-Executive Zach Weinberg says the bottom line is that Kingdom Resources believes "it can make money."  Weinberg adds that during the mining downturn, the county has learned it must diversify its economy and not allow it to be dominated by a single industry.
