LMPD Shoots Man During Run To The Russell Neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- An LMPD run to the Russel neighborhood ends with gun fire.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Magazine on a call of a man doing drugs in an empty house.

After inspecting the home, a female officer saw a black man hiding behind a mattress. She asked him to show his hands and then fired a shot into his stomach.

The man was taken to University Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. He remains there for treatment.

The officer involved has been suspended of her duties.

LMPD Chief Steve Conrad is expected to release more information, including names of those involved, on Thursday.
