Good Weather Keeping Papa John's Cardinal Stadium Expansion On Track

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A warm winter means more progress at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The sounds of football are replaced by drilling and digging equipment as the $63 million expansion of the stadium moves forward.

Messer Construction Project Manager Jason Larkin says the warm winter and dry weather has cut down on stoppages and allowed them to drill about half of the more than 400 foundation pilings.

Larkin says fans passing by the stadium on I-65 will notice the scoreboard on the north end is gone and says cranes and structural steel and concrete will start going up in June.

The project is expected to be done in time for the start of the 2018 season.
