JCPS Board Votes to Become a 'Safe Haven' District

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- JCPS Board Members vote to make their district a "Safe Haven".

The board voted in favor of passing the safe haven resolution, which says that JCPS will not ask about a student's immigration status nor will they give immigration information out without a court order.

Parts of the resolution are already part of JCPS policy, but would send a clearer message to students and families.

Board members heard about an hour of speakers both for and against the resolution before coming to a decision.

Four members voted in favor of the resolution while three members abstained from voting. No one voted against the measure.
