LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville physician is facing possible prison time for illegally prescribing pain pills.
Dr. George Kudmani was convicted on federal charges of health care fraud and unlawful distribution of controlled substances.
A gynecologist who had a practice on Stonestreet Road, Kudmani would charge a first-time patient $75 for an exam. On follow-up visits, the patients would pay $35 for Oxycodone and Hydrocodone subscriptions without a physical examination.
Patients testified to paying cash and being prescribed pills for year.
Kudmani faces a maximum 30 years in prison when he is sentenced in June.
