OWENSBORO, Ky -- A new distillery in Owensboro is fully operational and its first bourbon will be ready this fall. The O.Z. Tyler Distillery is located in a former distilling site in Owensboro that hasn't been used in 25 years.
At this point the distillery is producing about 130 barrels a day, its first barrel will be ready in September after aging a year and a day. The bourbon produced by the distillery will taste older than a year and day through a patented filtration process called Terre Pure, which will give it the taste of a four year old bourbon.
Master Distiller Jacob Call is continuing the family heritage of distilling, his father and grandfather both worked for Jim Beam.
