LMPD Chief: JCPS Must Have Its Own Police Force

(Louisville, KY) - Jefferson County Public Schools must have its own police force.

That's what LMPD Chief Erika Shields said Wednesday after one student was killed and two others were injured in a shooting while waiting at a bus stop.

Shields said Louisville can't keep doing the same things and think it won't end up in this situation again.

She said the state's largest school district must have dedicated school resource officers who are trained to identify gang members and potential conflict.
