UofL Student-Athletes Will Return To Campus Soon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The athletic department at the University of Louisville is slowly re-opening.

UofL says student-athletes will begin returning to campus in phases starting May 27th, 12 days before the start of voluntary workouts.

To begin, about 30 football players along with 15 each from the men's and women's basketball programs will be trained on the new social distancing and health guidelines and would be tested for COVID-19 on June 3 with voluntary training starting June 8.

A second group including 30 more football players and 60 Olympic-sport athletes would arrive on June 10 with a third phase of 60 athletes set to arrive on July 6.

UofL hopes to bring all remaining student-athletes back to campus in late July or early-August .

As of now, Athletic Director Vince Tyra is planning on the September 3 football opener with N.C. State going on as scheduled but says it is still unclear how many fans will be allowed in the stadium.
