One school district in Ohio is doing away with its valedictorian and salutatorian honors as part of an effort to improve the “mental wellness” of its students, school officials say. Mason City Schools said the decision was made after a year-long study and focus groups with students, staff and families. “This will help reduce the overall competitive culture at MHS to allow students to focus on exploring learning opportunities that are of interest to them,” Mason High School Principal Bobby Dodd said in a news release. Despite the changes, the school will still recognize academic achievers with the Latin honors system. ABC News' Cheri Preston joins Joe.

A pilot for an American Airlines subsidiary was arrested Saturday in the 2015 shooting deaths of three people in Kentucky, the state attorney general announced. Christian R. Martin was arrested Saturday at the Louisville airport, a day after he was indicted by a Christian County grand jury in the November 2015 deaths of Calvin and Pamela Phillips of Pembroke and their neighbor, Edward Dansereau, Attorney General Andy Beshear said in a news release. ABC's Ryan Burrow joins Joe Elliott.
