You may not know his name, but you know his voice - and it’s because of him that you probably know your multiplication and grammar. Bob Dorough, the composer and singer of Schoolhouse Rock died this week at the age of 94.  Dorough, a jazz pianist and vocalist, once said that it all began because a New York advertising executive approached him complaining that his sons could remember all the words to Jimi Hendrix, but not their math homework and asked him to write some songs.  Dorough leaves behind generations of us who learned that 3 is a magic number and what the function of a conjunction is.

Toronto police official said Tuesday that women made up most of the victims of the deadly van attack, but there is no indication yet that suspect Alek Minassian was directing his rented van into women as he plowed into pedestrians on Monday. The issue arose because of what police called a "cryptic" Facebook message posted by Minassian just before the incident that suggested he was part of an online community angry over their inability to form relationships with women. Authorities have still declined to disclose a possible motive in the attack.
