Why are employers more likely to shun women  -- and men in some cases -- who left the workforce to care for children? According to a study conducted by a sociology professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, employers are seemingly biased against parents applying for jobs after taking time off to look after their kids, even when they’re in the running against applicants who were laid off.
