(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky lawmakers and education leaders are gathering to discuss the commonwealth's teacher shortage.
The Interim Joint Committee on Education met Tuesday in Frankfort to address the shortage. Kentucky Education Commissioner Dr. Jason Glass spoke to the committee, urging legislators to act before the situation worsens.
Glass told the committee that over 30,000 Kentucky teachers are at risk of leaving the classroom, especially new and retirement age teachers. He says COVID-19 is one factor that has contributed to the shortage.
