(Louisville, KY) - Louisville Metro Health officials say an extra-contagious version of omicron is here.
BA.2 has been detected in the city's wastewater. It's responsible for about 35 percent of the cases reported in the U.S. last week. That's up from 22 percent the week before.
Researchers say it appears BA.2 spreads faster than the original omicron and in rare cases can make people sick even if they've already had omicron.
