(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says the tornado death toll in the state could exceed 50 people, perhaps up to 70-100 deaths.
Severe weather tore through western Kentucky late Friday, causing damage across several counties.
Governor Beshear in a news conference early Saturday said loss of life is expected, and that it's going to be "the worst tornado damage we've seen in a long time."
Beshear said a single tornado ripped across Kentucky for over 200 miles, and did extensive damage in the town of Mayfield.
He's advising Kentucky residents to stay off the roads and let emergency crews respond.
