(Louisville, KY) - It's not yet known when an interrupted Jefferson County School Board meeting will resume.
Board members unanimously voted to call off Tuesday night's meeting after breaking for a short recess following the start of the public comment period.
The disruption was apparently caused by people arguing over school resource officers for Jefferson County Public Schools. It's become a hot topic again after a high school student was shot and killed at a bus stop with LMPD Chief Erika Shields saying the district needs its own police force.
The Jefferson County Board of Education did not get a chance to discuss a recommendation by JCPS for a COVID-19 testing program.
Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio made a statement about the test-to-stay and test-to-play program at the start of the board meeting. JCPS claims the boost in COVID-19 testing would keep students in school longer without the need for quarantine periods.
