(Louisville, KY) - Jefferson County Public Schools students and staff who haven't been vaccinated for COVID-19 must wear masks inside district facilities starting Monday.

A message was sent to parents Sunday after the Centers for Disease Control announced new guidance for school districts to reduce the spread of the virus.

The new policy applies to students and staff on buses for summer programming, however, masks aren't required outside on JCPS property.

The Jefferson County Board of Education will vote at the July 27th board meeting and make a determination about safety requirements including masks for unvaccinated students and staff for the start of the 2021-22 school year.  The first day of the new school year is Wednesday, August 11th.
