(Louisville, KY) - Legendary athlete Jim Thorpe is the focus of a new exhibit at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.
The exhibit tells the story of how baseball was used to strip Thorpe of his gold medals from the 1912 Olympics.
The museum says less than six months after Thorpe won the gold medals, the titles were taken away after it was learned he played semi-professional baseball during the summers of 1909 and 1910. The situation caused debate over his amateur status.
