(Frankfort, KY) - Governor Andy Beshear says he is committing Kentucky National Guard troops to provide assistance at the U.S-Mexico border.
Beshear announced Thursday that more than 200 guard members are being activated to join approximately 3,000 guard personnel from other states at the border.
The governor says the move is being made in response to a direct request from the Department of Homeland Security. The governor's office says Kentucky troops are set to deploy later this year to "provide operational and logistics support."
