FRANKFORT, Ky. - Gov. Andy Beshear has announced a plan to further reduce COVID 19 restrictions.
At his briefing Thursday, Beshear announced that effective May 28th - Memorial Day weekend - all indoor and outdoor events under 1,000 can be held at 75% capacity.
Also on May 28, indoor events of more than 1000 can increase capacity to 60%.
He says beginning today, in small groups where all people are vaccinated, the mask mandate will no longer apply indoors.
Looking ahead for lifting capacity more, Beshear says they’re watching for the approval of the Pfizer vaccine for 12-15 year olds.
Beshear announced 655 new cases Thursday. Positivity rate is at 3.51 percent. There are six deaths - five new and one from an audit.
Governor Beshear also says Kentucky’s economy is “heating up.” He says Kentucky sales tax receipts in April were $486.5 million, an all-time monthly high.
