COVID-19 Cases Are Declining In Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Some good news on the COVID-19 front in Louisville.

Metro Health Director Dr. Sarah Moyer says the city is still in the "red," but numbers are going down and trending in the right direction.

There were just under 3,000 new cases reported last week -- the lowest weekly count in a month. Deaths are still high, though.  There were 39 new COVID-related deaths reported last week.

At UofL Health, Dr. Jason Smith says they dropped below 100 COVID patients in the hospital system for the first time since before Thanksgiving.

At the city's mass vaccination site, Lou Vax, Mayor Greg Fischer says nearly 17,000 people have received a shot in the arm. About 8,000 are scheduled this week.
