Gov. Beshear Receives The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Governor Beshear and four other state leaders have been given their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In a public event in the Capitol Rotunda, Beshear along with House Speaker David Osborne, Senate President Robert Stivers, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton, Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack and Executive Cabinet Secretary J. Michael Brown were given the first of two doses of the Moderna COVID vaccine.

Beshear says getting the vaccine fulfils a promise to get it in a public setting if it were safe and effective, adding he wouldn't have received the shot if he had any concerns about it.

The governor says the Lt. Governor, State Police Commissioner, and the head of the Kentucky National Guard are all set to get the vaccine on Wednesday.

All of the state leaders will get the second dose in four weeks.
