(Washington, DC) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has received his first dose of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine.
In a statement on Twitter, the Kentucky Republican said, "vaccines are how we beat this virus." McConnell said he will continue to focus on negotiating a coronavirus relief package with more funding for vaccine distribution.
The 78-year-old is among the highest-ranking government officials to have received the vaccine. He joins Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who both received the vaccine earlier Friday.
