JCPS Avoids State Takeover

LOUISVILLE, Ky.— There'll be no state takeover of JCPS.

A recently completed state audit verified the district had addressed a long list of concerns outlined in a previous audit that provoked threats of a state takeover.

JCPS Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio calls it "a good day for JCPS and our students", saying it's a reflection of two years of hard work by hundreds of JCPS employees making significant changes to improve the educational experience of students.

Pollio says JCPS has gone from 276 corrective action items to 27 recommendations it still has to complete.

The areas where improvement is still needed include services for special education students and the use of physical restraints.

Pollio unveiled a plan he calls the Future State of JCPS, which includes details for continued improvement across the district.
